Commercial Utility Consultant’s were supporting the cancer charity, Macmillan Cancer Support by organising and hosting a coffee morning that welcomed people from across Airedale House.
The charity holds a special place for our staff as many of us know someone who has had a terminal illness and consequently appreciate the work that is being done by Macmillan.
The very first Macmillan coffee morning was held in 1990 and since has raised over £290 million for the charity! The concept is simple, guests gather over a coffee or tea, enjoy some cake and donate to the charity.
We found it a great way to network and catch up with others in the building – unfortunately, most were camera shy! We did get some snaps though (further below) and raised a total of £198.82!
How does the money raised help?
£71 could help run our Online Community forum for over 3 hours. Typically, that would give nearly 198 people affected by cancer both emotional and practical support.
£100 could pay for a person affected by cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, providing them with skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives.
£350 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together.
